Student Design Competition 2026
The IES Boston Section supports lighting professionals through education, knowledge exchange, and professional development, fostering better lighting practices for our built environment.

2025-26 Theme: Ink
Every year, the IES Boston Section hosts a Student Design Competition to challenge local students to design their own light fixture (luminaire) which is submitted to be judged by a multidisciplinary panel of experts. Three finalists will be selected from among the entries to be announced at the Annual Spring Awards Gala!!
Each finalist will win a cash prize ranging from $750-$1500.
Ink is a carbon-based material that can be used for communication, calligraphy, dyeing, and tattoos. Ink may be opaque, translucent, or have color.
